Maryclaire IrelandOwner maryclaire@stoneoakyouththeatre.comMaryclaire Ireland started dreaming about a place like Stone Oak Youth Theatre and Dance Company when she was just 15 years old. Her family had moved from St. Louis, Missouri, where she and her sister were very active in acting classes and youth theatre productions, to San Antonio. San Antonio offered plenty of classes for kids at theaters around town, but a place just for youth, focused on youth and starring youth, was nowhere to be found. Maryclaire told her parents she was going to finish high school, go away to college, return to San Antonio and create a place kids and teens could call home. That’s exactly what she did. In the meantime, Maryclaire took any job theaters and dance studios in town would give her. She performed and worked at TJ’s Dance Factory, J Champion Dance, Woodlawn Theatre, The Josephine Theatre, San Pedro Playhouse and The Steven Stoli Playhouse and Backyard Theatre. When she moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to go to college (University of Dallas, BA 2005), she performed and worked for several theaters and dance studios in the metroplex, including Artisan Center Theatre and Plaza Theatre Company, two of DFW’s fastest growing venues. For both of these companies, Maryclaire helped develop children’s theater programs. Between San Antonio and DFW, Maryclaire has performed in, choreographed, costumed, directed, designed or written almost 200 productions.Maryclaire is also a talented stage performer. Her favorite roles on stage have been Kathy Selden in Singin’ in the Rain, Wanda in Beehive: The 60s Musical, and The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol. She often choreographs for theaters around town as well as for Madison High School. Maryclaire and her husband, Skyler, welcomed a sweet baby boy, Andrew Joseph, in December 2011. |
