THE COMPANY

WHAT IS THE COMPANY?

A focused, pre-professional program for middle- and high-school students.

The Company will host its own theatrical season, separate from the regular SOYT-DC season, consisting of full-length plays, musicals, cabaret productions and public performances.  This intense study is geared toward preparing young artists for their entry into college-level arts programs and for the professional performing arts world.

Junior Company (Ages 10-12)
Senior Company (Ages 13-18)

COMPANY TRAINING

Training for Company Members will be taken very seriously. Company Members will be required to attend classes each week, as well as their two-hour weekly rehearsal. These classes are only for Company Members and will include Company Ballet, Company Advanced Acting, Company Tap/Musical Theatre Combo.  We also encourage members to take private voice instruction.

WHAT DOES THE COMPANY EXPERIENCE LOOK LIKE?

As stated above, both Junior and Senior Company Members will have required classes during the week.  Their two-hour weekly rehearsals will be separated by Junior and Senior Company though the groups will be combined for classes.  During these weekly rehearsals, Company Members will be working on their own season of productions.  The shows will be selected to fit our Company Members once auditions have taken place.

It is our hope that, as students are entering their junior or senior year of high school, they will have developed a strong performance resume and portfolio and can enter a college or professional audition with skill and confidence. All Company performances will be archived for the purpose of creating demo reels and portfolios for students.  In addition to this, Stone Oak Youth Theatre & Dance Company will produce a showcase recital for graduating seniors each year.

WHAT KIND OF STUDENTS WILL BENEFIT FROM ACCEPTANCE INTO THE COMPANY?

Students who are goal-oriented with a strong interest in turning performing arts into a career are perfect fits for The Company.  We are looking for the students who excel in our regular programs, memorize quickly, come prepared to work in classes and rehearsals, and can take an intense program like this one seriously.

HOW CAN I BECOME A COMPANY MEMBER?

Prospective Company Members who are not already students at Stone Oak Youth Theatre & Dance Company should submit an application and can call 210-481-2400 or email maryclaire@stoneoakyouththeatre.com.  Prospective Company Members who are already students at Stone Oak Youth Theatre & Dance Company will be sent an invitation to audition through the mail in May 2012.  In order to be considered for The Company, students should be leaders in our current programs, both in attitude and work ethic.  Auditions will occur in July 2012.
